Neve is the name behind the recording of so many great albums by bands such as Fleetwood Mac,  Steely Dan, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, Dire Straits and dozens more. Because the “Neve Sound” has been at the center of so many beloved albums, we have been adding Neve gear over the last few years including many channels designated as a Neve 1073-which is the recording module used at Sound City Studios where many bands from the 1970’s to the 1990’s recorded the music we all love.  Among the current manufacturers of recording equipment, preamp channels don’t get any more “high-end” than the Neve Shelford Channel. This is a piece of gear that has been on our studio’s wish for the last 2-3 years.  Well we finally pulled the trigger on the purchase.

Over 50 years in the making, Rupert Neve Designs’ Shelford Channel is the definitive evolution of the late Mr. Neve’s renowned 80 Series channel module technology, updated and refined for the contemporary studio.

The Shelford Channel is fitted with Rupert’s latest Class A transformer-gain mic preamp, the best-of-the-classics Inductor EQ, a punchy diode-bridge compressor, the alluring analog textures of variable Silk saturation, a state-of-the-art dual-tap transformer output stage with massive headroom, and double the operating voltage of vintage designs.

Offering rich tonal options for making audacious musical statements, the Shelford Channel delivers the authoritative sonic essence of classic Rupert Neve designs, along with modern versatility.

We can’t wait to put it to use.
