The upcoming release of the latest novel by author Rich Shapero is entitled “These Balmy Days”.

The story takes place in Portugal and is told by a elderly grandfather who is visiting from America.  Although many actors can provide an approximation of the required character voicing, the company wanted an authentic flavor and enlisted Arthur Morey to provide the reading.

A Harvard graduate and former professor at Northwestern University, Mr. Morey has recorded over 500 audiobooks in his career, winning multiple awards.  The Sound Palace was chosen to record Mr. Morey’s narration.

 

The company’s Creative Director, Jan Lindsay-Smith, flew out from New York and was in our control room to assist with this 6 day project.  Since the novel is peppered with Portuguese language,  Jan was equipped with pronunciation audio which we routed to Mr. Morey’s headphones each time it was required. (And it was often required; Portuguese is a very challenging language as it resembles Spanish but has a completely different pronunciation.)

The release date for the book and immersive experience has not yet been selected but is likely to occur by the end of the summer.
